Style Snapshot / Spring State of Mind

Style SnapshotAs we near the end of February, let’s chat: What’s in your reading pile? {I myself have just begun the debut The Mystery of Hollow Places alongside Franny and Zooey and Gloria Steinem’s memoir}. Do you have any fun and exciting projects in the works? {My vacation provided plenty of brainstorming time – we’ll see where it takes me!}. Are you anxious for the spring months to arrive?! {I’m right there with you}. Style Snapshot took a mini vacation – I last posted an edition in October – but if there were any better time to return to the series, it’d be now: when I like to fool myself that spring in New England is on its way and that, yes, it’s appropriate to swap my knit scarves and heavy sweaters for light tees and cute flats.

In all truth, it’s many weeks away before I can sport short sleeve shirts and sundresses, but that’s not to stop me from the fun of online shopping! My favorite stores have all recently rolled out their spring/summer lines, and the gorgeous color palettes and cheery prints of each collection have won me over. If given an unlimited budget, here are a few pieces I would add to my closet for the coming season. What would you want for your wardrobe?

2 \ Embroidered T-Shirt in Navy and Ivory from J.Crew Factory

3 \ Cutoff Sweatshirt in Hazy Sunset from Madewell

4 \ Daisy Chain Sandals in Gold Metallic from Boden

Style Snapshot / Fall in Love

Style SnapshotCliché as it may be, what magazines and fashion sites say is true: trends will come and go, but staple pieces will last you years. Quality pieces, even if they are a bit more expensive, are worthwhile investments; they act as the “building blocks” of your closet, allowing you to add stylish flair with accessories or pops of color with smaller items. I myself am drawn to the capsule wardrobe concept – although my own take on the idea is best described as liberal :) – as the autumn weather settles in and I wear cozy sweaters and cute booties more often than not.

For this month’s Style Snapshot {the feature took a brief hiatus, but not to worry, it has returned!}, I wanted to chat the ideal fall wardrobe. If you had a generous budget, what ten pieces would you choose to wear throughout the season? As you’ll see below, I would balance the classics, such as dark rinse jeans and a comfy striped top, with more personality-packed items, like the patterned fringe scarf and bright Fair Isle sweater. Keeping within the same color palette would make matching outfits a breeze, while a range in textures brings layers to possible ensembles.

Fall begs for a closet update, wouldn’t you agree?!

Style Snapshot / Class Act

Style SnapshotCome September, I’m giddy with excitement over the upcoming school year. Although the feeling doesn’t last long {it rarely extends more than a few weeks into my routine}, I still look forward to the return to school, where I spend the first several days catching up with friends, adjusting to new classes, and best of all, putting my collection of coordinated school supplies to good use.

Back to school shopping is an organization lover’s dream. You have the perfect excuse to purchase a planner, stock up on notebooks, or replenish your home supply of office goods! I can relate; my love of school is supported by my own love of school supply shopping :) With my first day of school only three weeks away, I couldn’t think of a better time to share the cutest of this season’s items, from a colorful planner to a sturdy and simple backpack. The only necessity not mentioned below? Well-designed binder covers, which are a must for this font enthusiast. What’s your thoughts on back to school shopping?
