Picture Perfect / 02

Picture PerfectHappy Monday! Over the summer, I introduced a new Ciao Bella feature: Picture Perfect, in which my love of photography and all things shopping come into play as I collect items that match a particular photograph. It presents an interesting graphic design challenge – how can I invoke the same feeling in both picture and product? – but I’m not complaining; it’s incredibly fun to work on, it hones my eye for color and composition, and best of all, it gives you the perfect excuse to online shop! :) It’s been two months since I last debuted the series, so I’m all sorts of excited to return to it with a new back-to-school edition.

Kate Spade Ad{via}

For this month’s post, the image is an old Kate Spade advertisement used in the fall. True to the brand’s marketing strategies, the photograph is a colorful twist on typical academic motifs, such as stacks of books and the traditional tights-and-flats combination, and it’s effective in catching my eye. The palette is an unusual choice for autumn, but I like to think a rich pink and deep yellow are appropriate year-round! The photo led me on a search for cheery and vintage-style items, including a peppy pennant pillow and a bright striped notepad, that pair well with the image. Do you like anything in the collection below?
