M&M Cookies


Big, Yummy M&M CookiesWhether Halloween is a holiday you despise or adore, one thing is for certain: there’s no shortage of candy during October! Grocery store shelves are stocked with bags of chocolate {and seasonally colored} M&M’s during this time of year, giving you the perfect excuse to whip up a batch of M&M cookies. They are a favorite among kids and adults alike, but know that if you make them once, you’ll be making them again :) With its easy instructions and a short ingredient list, what’s stopping you from starting?!

M&M Cookies Loosely adapted from A Pinch of Yum


  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups and 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups M&M’s and extra for topping the cookies

to make

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. With an electric mixer, combine the sugars, shortening, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Mix in the 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt. Add in the tablespoons of flour as needed; your dough should be thick and almost dry to the touch.
  4. Fold in the M&M’s.
  5. Grease two large baking sheets.
  6. Scoop dough into large balls and place on baking sheets. Flatten and press extra M&M’s on top.
  7. Bake for eight to ten minutes.
  8. Let the cookies cool on a wire rack, and enjoy!
