Dark Chocolate Pecan Cookies

Dark Chocolate Pecan CookiesI’ve always been wary of adding nuts to chocolate chip cookies. Why mess with perfection? However, in an effort to revitalize old favorites, I was willing to give The Sugar Hit’s tasty-looking recipe a shot. I made a few adaptations to work with what I had on hand, but the core parts of the original recipe remain the same: brown butter, dark chocolate, and chopped pecans! These cookies may not look like anything new, but what they lack in captivating appearance, they by far make up in flavor. In the future, I may flatten my cookies before baking a tad more {mine are a bit too round for my perfectionist liking}, but, hey, that’s just a good excuse to whip up another batch, is it not?! :)

Dark Chocolate Pecan CookiesDark Chocolate Pecan Cookies Adapted from The Sugar Hit

  • 12 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • heaping 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

to make

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease two baking sheets.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt butter. Once it is melted, keep cooking it; the butter should foam up and turn golden brown in just a couple of minutes. Remove the butter from heat, and set it aside to cool. {Lost and totally confused? Here’s a guide on how to make the perfect brown butter.}
  3. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the sugars. Add in the butter, and beat until combined.
  4. Continue beating as you add in the egg.
  5. Stir in the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  6. Next, mix in the chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
  7. Scoop out mounds of dough with a tablespoon, and place in rows on the baking sheets.
  8. Bake cookies for eighteen to twenty minutes, or until just browned.
  9. Let cool on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy!

Have an amazing Thursday!

  1. Oh my gosh, these look FANTASTIC! I’m not a huge fan of nuts in my cookies either (or RAISINS. Never, ever, ever!) but these sound so good! I actually really like pecans on their own and also in those Turtles chocolates so I’m sure I’d like these! Though I can’t really bake.. But anyway, really great job with the cookies! They look soooo good.
