Hi!

Only 6 more until we hit fifty, everyone! Woo-hoo! :)

Seventeen Ultimate Guide to Beauty: The Best Hair, Skin, Nails & Makeup Ideas For You

the seventeen ultimate guide to beauty

I like doing my hair and playing around with makeup and stuff, just not when I’m rushing out the door at 6:45 each morning. Thankfully, the tutorials in Seventeen’s Ultimate Guide to Beauty are not only stylish, they are so quick to do once you get the hang of them. The book is divided into different sections for makeup {in which each section is a different “look,” like girly or boho} and hair, {where each section is a different style, like braids or ponytails.}  I used their fashion guide daily last year, so this will be just as handy! I’ve already tried a braided style, and plan to try some more this weekend. What do you do when it comes to hair and makeup? I’ve always been very simple makeup-wise {no more than eye shadow and mascara usually} but hair is something I don’t mind spending a good chunk of my morning at!

hotel transylvania

When I went to see Brave over the summer, I knew that I wanted to catch Hotel Transylvania after I saw the preview. With a funny plot line and creepy adorable animations, it looks like a perfect Halloween flick. {does there seem to be a lot this year? just me?} Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez star as Dracula and his daughter who, you know, operates a high-end resort for monsters in his spare time. Vampires have been used a lot lately, but I like how this movie uses the traditional look. No sparkles in sight! I think I will see this Columbus Day Weekend as a birthday treat for my little sister :)

girls’ life’s october/november 2012 issue

I was waiting a long time for this magazine to come, and I didn’t even realize that my subscription had ended! Silly me! :) One quick trip to the grocery store, and that little problem was solved. This was GL’s second annual personal style issue, and it was one of their BEST. Here is what I liked the most.

  • let’s get dressed! With only 20 or so items to work with, they managed to create 17 looks to wear. I already have some of the pieces in my wardrobe, now I just have to put the outfits together. Easy-peasy!
  • simply dashing In my personal opinion, Jane by Design should never had gotten cancelled. Erica Dasher was not only a good actress, she had a pretty rocking sense of style too. I was so excited to see her featured!
  • facing the music I adore Bridgit Mendler. She’s smart and isn’t afraid to laugh at herself. I hope she goes far in her career, and with her CD coming out soon, she’s well on her way!

this exciting news

I’m so, so, so excited!!! :) The name and story of the 2013 Girl of the Year has been revealed. Her name is Saige and her story focuses on horses and the arts. When her school is forced to cut the music and art teachers, Saige plans a fundraiser with her grandmother, Mimi, and her friend, Gabi. I think it’s terrific that AG has finally recognized the music and arts in their Girl of the Year line. Now I’m just waiting for what she will look like!

what to wear {libra ring}

elephantine

Elephantine is all kinds of awesome. It has posts on fashion, food, and fiction, three of my favorite things :) Rachel’s photos are stunning, and the site is beautifully designed. I recently found it, and I have been reading through some of the old posts each day. One of the more recent post series I liked was What to Wear With…, like this Libra Ring one above.

Have a great start to your weekend!

B :)

Psst. October is going to be so much FUN! I have plenty planned for the blog, which I hope to share with you next week. Stay tuned, friends.
