Summary: When Gary {Segal} offers his brother, Walter {Linz}, a trip to see the Muppets Theater, Walter was bound to say “Yes!” A longtime Muppets fan, Walter has always anticipated his trip to see the theater in person. Unfortunately, Walter, Gary, and Gary’s girlfriend, Mary {Adams}, arrive at a dilapidated, deserted building. Walter is in shock, and decides to leave the six person tour group to visit Kermit’s office. There, Walter is speechless. He is visiting The Kermit’s office! Before he has a chance to look around, Walter hides under a desk when he hears a group of men enter. It is Tex Richman {Cooper}, the greedy oil tycoon, and he wants the Muppets Theater torn down so he can drill for oil! Walter can’t believe his ears! What would Kermit {Whitmire} do? And that starts Walter’s, Gary’s and Mary’s journey to bring back the Muppet gang. With Kermit, Fozzie, Miss Piggy and the rest to help, will they be able to save the theater before it is too late?

My Thoughts: What a cute and silly movie! Nothing spectacular, but I was smiling the whole time :) Segal did a good job as Gary, and he and Adams were such an animated couple. Both were terrific actors, as expected, but it was their singing that surprised me! The movie had more musical numbers than I originally thought, but it was a pleasant surprise. I loved the song, “Are You a Muppet or a Man?”! It was SO fun to see Segal as a Muppet and Walter as a Man. Hehe :) Miss Piggy was a drama queen, as always, but she was always in style as well! I found myself looking forward to her next costume change! The plot dragged in the middle, but it picked up speed by the end. I loved how various stars came to support the telethon! Out of the performances in the telethon, I liked the chickens’ version of “Forget You” the best. Overall, a bit cheesy, but never failed to make me laugh!

Pros: Cute performances and characters.

Cons: The plot was slow and all over the place.

Heads Up: A pretty family friendly movie!

Overall: I give it 3 1/2 stars {*** 1/2} for a good movie. I recommend it for ages 5 and up, and waiting for it to come out on DVD.

Melody Valerie’s winter line, Silver Bows, was release yesterday afternoon, and my gosh, the pieces are stunning! My favorites are the Signature Scarf and the Jane hat. What do you like?

  1. Longtime Muppet fans will undoubtedly have more fun than young ones, but for the most part, it’s a witty, delightful romp, that shows you that you can still be funny, without ever being mean still in 2011. Good review.
