the braid parade

Hello!

Braid Parade Title

March seems to be a month of braids, don’t you think? From the classic French braid to the newer Fishtail, braids are being reinvented daily, and I love testing them out myself. For this month’s Style Snapshot, I took some of my favorite braided styles and paired them with a cute fashion piece! What braids do you like to wear?

a 2013 trends round-up

Hello!

For this month’s Style Snapshot, I decided to focus on some of the biggest trends this year. I went with a color {Emerald Green}, a print {Wild Florals}, and an accessory trend {Mini Handbags}. Of course, there are plenty more. Let’s chat :) What are some of your favorites so far?

Emerald has been officially named “The 2013 Color of the Year,” and it has been popping up everywhere. You could go all out, like with the printed dress, or use it in smaller portions like having it be the sole of your shoe. Personally, I like this color green with darker denim, but it also suits nicely with  lighter denim too. Yay for versatility! :)

This is one of my favorite trends! Wild florals are really big, and with their crazy, yet somehow stylish, color combos, I think we will see even more of them in the spring. Because they are so attention-grabbing, it’s important to keep the rest of your outfit neutral.

Trend OneFinally, smaller bags are on the rise. I happen to love this one; what’s the use for a big tote when you’re only carrying around a few items? Depending on your tastes, you can go with a solid or a pattern. Either way, your outfit will be complete!

Have a happy Sunday, everyone!

cheerful & merry clothing

Hello!

SP_SeasonalSampler_Holiday_Paper_Dots

For this month’s Style Snapshot, it’s all about dressing up for the holidays! The holidays are supposed to be a time of joy, not a time for stressing about what to wear. I’ve picked a few of some store’s “lookbook” ideas, as well as some added items of my own, below. What would you wear?

for a holiday dinner

Formal family dinners are a time for you to look respectable, {sweats and a tee are probably not the best idea} yet comfy! A pretty top with a nice skirt or pants or a dress with tights are your safest bets.

option one

Parfait Dress

This look may not be for everyone, but I am in love with just about everything! :) Even if you don’t like the style of the dress, you can take some nice cues from it. Pair a fun dress with some cute tights and bold shoes {I would most likely add a cardigan as well}, and you’re all set!

Here’s another really good one! You can never go wrong with a LBD, but it’s always a good idea to find ones with some extra detail, like the sparkles on the sleeves with this one. I also like the design of this one because it balances out the shorter length with the long sleeves.

Collection handknit beaded cable sweater

This stuff is expensive, everybody, but you can take tips from the look. I love that they paired a cozy sweater with more sophisticated pants, which is festive enough, without going over the top.

Shining Star - Aéropostale®

This is a pretty cute example of the shirt and skirt combo. With the right details {lacy skirt, holiday scarf, black booties} a thermal tee can be just right for a family dinner.

for new year’s eve

AE Sequined Crop Cardigan

It’s all about the sparkles on New Year’s Eve! I love this cardigan because it’s festive, without look tacky. With a cute headband, shoes and jeans, this look is perfect for staying up until midnight!

I like this outfit a lot! The dress is all kinds of awesome, wouldn’t you agree?! With the gold detail on the leggings, shoes, and belt, along with a starry cardigan and fun top knot, I think this is great for New Year’s Eve.

Like I said earlier, you can really never go wrong with a little black dress. The nice thing about this one is that it has the peplum waistline, which gives a more fun feel. Hot pink tights bring more color to the outfit.

Have a lovely night!

what to wear on the weekends

Hi!

For this month’s Style Snapshot, I decided to focus on something that I always seem to struggle with – what to wear on the weekends! You want to strike the perfect balance of casual, yet not too sloppy. {we are not talking sweats and an oversized hoodie here.} I’ve rounded up a few items that when put together can create just the look you need…

OUTFIT #1

Leopard Kilty Moc

For this outfit, I stuck with things that look fashionable, but are extremely comfortable! :) Of course, you should work with what you have, but jeggings {or another style of jeans that fit your body type} are a great base. {bonus points if they are in a coolieo color like hot pink!} Add a simple long-sleeved tee with fun details, like the minty-cream one shown above, plus some cozy moccasins, and you’re all set! Obviously, keep the hair and makeup to a minimum. Maybe pop in a cute headband?

OUTFIT #2

Embroidered Sweatshirt

Skinny Jean

Dakota

If sweatshirts are more your thing, look for ones that aren’t your “basic” hoodies. I like this bright yellow one for its unique color and little embroidered details. Pair it with jeans {again, the right ones for you! If you go with a boot cut or a flare, I would recommend staying with more “fitted” hoodies, if that makes any sense?} and some extremely cozy moccasins :) For the hair, braids are really quick to do and look good!

OUTFIT #3

Girls McGrath Beach Tee

Pull-ons

or

Sweatpants

Finally, this last look is perfect for lazy days spent at home. {snow days, winter vacation etc.} Graphic tees are so easy to throw on and are often pretty cheap, so look for ones that you like the most! Checkered pajama pants might not be your thing, so I’ve added the alternative sweatpants as well :) A messy bun or ponytail completes the look.

Because I can’t think of a good title, guys.

Time for another Style Snapshot! With school ramping up, and the whole back-to-school phase is over, I see my friends slowing going back to their routine of sweats and tees. While I understand school is not meant to be a fashion show, no one ever said that you can’t look good for it! :) I created five outfits for each day of the week, and included some hair tips as well.

Monday

On Mondays, I like to start the week off with a bang. I have loved this mustard-colored shirt with the peter pan collar detail ever since it came out, and I think it would make a great statement when paired with some basic skinnies. I would keep the hair and makeup basic, perhaps throwing on a fun headband or little twists on the side. Cheetah-print Sperry’s finish it off.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, a sweet, floral print dress is enough without any accessories. To continue with the “delicate” look, I would do a simple ballerina bun with a skinny headband in my hair. Finally, brown flats could go with just about anything, especially dresses and skirts!

Wednesday

I think Wednesdays are the worst. It’s the middle of the week, my day is packed, and the last thing I want to do is to stress about what to wear. To brighten up everyone’s day and make my morning go a *but* quicker, I would wear a simple, but cute pullover sweater with bright pink jeans :) Do a few mini fishtail braids and I am good to go!

Thursday

I find that everyone dresses casual on Fridays, but I like to surprise everyone and dress “down” {in Bella terms, at least :)} on Thursdays. A gray tee is a staple in anyone’s wardrobe, but when you add forest green jeggings and a printed scarf, it doesn’t look so basic anymore. Now that it is officially fall, I feel that moccasins are a must! For hair, I would go with a side braid and headband.

Friday

Finally, on the last day of the school week, I would keep it comfortable with a sweater {love that bow!} and my favorite jeans. Add the booties that I desperately want, and I’m out the door.
